Reduce, reuse, recycle!
Let's start off Earth day with a reusable knitted cup cozy! It helps reduce waste from using cardboard cup sleeves.
It's an eco- friendly way of celebrating Earth Day to be making a step towards helping our wonderful planet.
♥ If knitting is not your thing I also have a CROCHET SHELLS CUP COZY PATTERN HERE.
Did you know?
Earth day has been celebrated since 1970! Which means it is also the 50th anniversary of this day! That is pretty cool!
The goal is to celebrate our Earth and raise awareness on how our daily actions can have a negative impact on the environment and therefore switch gears and take care of the planet that we live on.
Here are a few things we can all do to start
- Drive our cars less. Right now during quarantine, there is definitely a lot less driving than usual, so yay!
- Use less water. Hard to notice when the kids go and wash their toys in the sink and leave it on, but I try!
- Volunteer. Picking up trash around the community or just making sure we don't litter.
- Plant a tree. This sounds like a fun family experience and watching it grow together!
- Making washcloth/dishcloths out of cotton yarn. 🙂
And most importantly educate ourselves. I don't claim to do the above things often but I am using this time especially as I get older to make better choices.

Little more about the knitted cup cozy pattern
You will be knitting this cup cozy flat and it uses basic knitting stitches which makes it a great project as an intermediate knitter.
(I consider someone who is comfortable reading knitting patterns and is familiar with knitting stitches an intermediate knitter.)
Yarn talk...
Bernat Home Dec yarn is a great yarn that I wish will never go away! It holds its shape very well. I have made a Crochet Textured Bag Holder and it doesn't stretch out. That is why I thought it would be a great yarn to work with some knitting needles and make a cup cozy! The color I am using in these photos is in Clay. I know Joanns, Michaels and even Walmart have carried these in the past. Currently, I have not seen this specific color sold but I am hopeful they will restock soon! They have so many wonderful colors available!
