Have you ever lost a hook or just tired of always digging through your pencil box or bag of hooks? This project will help with that! You can match your fabric to go with your decor either in your craft room or where you most spend time crafting. It makes for easy access to your most-used hooks and it can be hung anywhere! This would definitely have to be a must in a craft room! It is a great organizer to keep tools handy like your crochet hooks! There are a variety of embroidery hoop sizes so you can make this as big or small as you'd like!
Here is what you need to make one of your very own:
- 7 inch Wooden Embroidery Hoop
- 9x9 cotton fabric square
- hot glue or fabric bonding glue
I used Elmer's Craft Bond Fabric Glue and let it dry. Using a glue gun will speed up the process but will have the same results.
Place one of the fabric squares over the inside loop (mine are round from trimming the edges prior)
Fold the second fabric in half to create a seamless and clean edge.
Place just below halfway to create to pocket.
Place the top loop over and taut on the fabric around the edge to tighten the fabric. Make sure to screw the loop.
Turn over and trim any long pieces leaving about 1 1/2 inch to glue down around the wooden loop inside.
The final touch is adding some of your favorite hooks and hanging it on your wall. I used up to 10 hooks including one polymer clay mermaid hook and was as much as I would insert for safety.
